Generate Images in Assistant
Assistant can generate images from natural-language descriptions. It currently supports image-capable models from signed-in ChatGPT Account and xAI Account providers, with no separate image API configuration required.
Generate an image
Section titled “Generate an image”- Sign in to ChatGPT or xAI Account under Notomo → Settings → AI → Providers.
- Open Assistant and select a model that supports image generation.
- Describe the subject, style, composition, colors, and intended use.
- Send the message. If the model decides an image is needed, Assistant shows generation progress.
For example:
Create a 16:9 article cover with a dark blue night sky, clean lunar orbit lines, no text, and an editorial illustration style.
Notomo has no separate “Generate Image” button. The current model and request determine whether the image tool is used. Image generation is unavailable when the model does not support it.
Use the result
Section titled “Use the result”After generation, view the image directly in the message and use its actions:
- Preview: View a larger image with macOS Quick Look.
- Copy: Copy the image and paste it into Notes or another app.
- Save: Choose a location and save the image as a file.
- Add to Photos: Add it to the system photo library.
If the result is not what you expected, revise the description and send it again, or choose Retry or Retry with Model for the entire response.
Image storage and cleanup
Section titled “Image storage and cleanup”Generated images are stored as Assistant conversation attachments in the local Application Support directory and appear with conversation history. Deleting the conversation, or automatic cleanup under your retention policy, also removes its images.
Under Notomo → Settings → AI → Assistant, set the automatic cleanup period for chat history or use Clear Chat History to remove saved conversations and images. A conversation that is currently open does not close immediately.
