Backlinks

Backlinks finds internal Apple Notes links to the current note, helping you return to the notes that reference it.

Section titled “Open Backlinks”

Select a note in Apple Notes, then use either option:

  • Open Command Palette and choose Show Backlinks.
  • If Floating Icon is enabled, click the Backlinks button in the lower-right corner of the Apple Notes window.

Results show the source note title and folder path. If the same source references the current note multiple times, the number of occurrences appears. Select a result to open the source note in Apple Notes.

The number on the Floating Icon is the known Backlinks count for the current note.

Result states

Notomo first shows the latest known results, then refreshes them in the background. If refreshing fails, existing results remain visible and may be marked Last known.

  • No backlinks: The check completed and found no references.
  • No known backlinks: Only known results can currently be confirmed; the check may be incomplete or outdated.
  • Backlinks are unavailable: The current note cannot be identified or the required data cannot be read.
