Inline Toolbar

When you select text in Apple Notes, Inline Toolbar appears near the selection. It puts common formatting, Skills, and one-time AI instructions in one compact panel so you can continue editing immediately after an action.

Format the selection

The toolbar can provide these actions:

  • Title, Heading, Subheading, and Body
  • Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, and Highlight
  • Add Link
  • Code Block and Block Quote
  • Checklist, Bulleted List, and Numbered List
  • Table

Formatting already applied is shown as selected. Some character formatting can be toggled repeatedly. After paragraph formatting, link, or table actions, the toolbar closes and returns control to Apple Notes.

Use Skills or custom instructions

The lower section of the toolbar shows enabled Skills. Selecting a Skill opens the Inline AI result panel.

If no existing Skill fits the task, enter a one-time instruction at the bottom, such as “Shorten to one sentence” or “Extract three action items,” then press Return.

Customize the toolbar

Open Notomo → Settings → Notes → Inline toolbar:

  • Disable Enable inline toolbar to hide the toolbar completely.
  • Enable or hide individual formatting buttons under Actions.
  • Manage Skill visibility, pinning, and disabled status under Settings → AI → Skills.
